Skin Cancer Champions joins Dana Farber Cancer Institute Team reMERKable To Raise Funds for Fight Against Merkel Cell Carcinoma

On Sunday, October 4, 2026, Vikki Kolbe of Skin Cancer Champions will participate in the Jimmy Fund Walk for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), one of the region’s most meaningful one-day fundraising events. She first joined the walk in 2000 after a colleague’s daughter received treatment at DFCI, and she has participated ever since.
This year, Vikki will walk with Team reMERKable, led by Dr. Ann Silk, an oncologist, researcher, and Co-Director of DFCI’s Merkel Cell Carcinoma Center. Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is an aggressive cancer that often recurs. Although understanding and treatment have advanced significantly over the past decade, important gaps remain, especially for people whose MCC recurs or progresses after standard therapy.
Funds raised by Team reMERKable will support research that helps investigators at DFCI better understand MCC and move closer to a cure for this disease. And the impact doesn’t stop at MCC. The support also helps fund research for other skin cancers, including cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC), making this effort valuable to broader patient communities as well.
The Jimmy Fund Walk for Dana Farber is a signature event—the largest 1-day participatory fundraiser benefiting the Jimmy Fund and DFCI. It’s also unique in a special way as it is the only other sanctioned event (besides the Boston Marathon®) allowed to travel the famed 26.2-mile route from Hopkinton, Massachusetts to Boston.
Whether you’re participating, cheering, or donating—you’re part of something larger than a walk. You’re helping power the kind of research and care that can change lives.
Let’s Walk Forward Together
