Skin Cancer Champions Joins Forces with Dana-Farber: Team reMERKable in the 2026 Jimmy Fund Walk
On a crisp day filled with purpose, members of Skin Cancer Champions came together with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s community to take part in the 2026 Jimmy Fund Walk—and proudly joined Team reMERKable. This year’s walk was a powerful example of what happens when patients, caregivers, clinicians, industry leaders and supporters unite with a shared goal: funding breakthrough cancer research—with people living with cancer truly at the center of everything.
A Remarkable Walk for Research
Team reMERKable was led by three extraordinary captains, Dr. Ann Silk, Dr. Manisha Thakuria and Dr. Karam Khaddour. Together, they led a 17-person team that raised $89K, with funds going directly to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute research. Team reMERKable met at Boston College Law School and took the 10K route to Boston Commons, beginning with the uphill challenge of Heartbreak Hill.
38 Years Strong: The Jimmy Fund Walk’s Big Mission
The 2026 event marked the 38th year of this 1-day community effort with 9,000 participants seeking to raise $9 million. The Jimmy Fund Walk remains one of the most meaningful fundraising events in the region—and for good reason: it’s not just a walk, it’s a movement fueled by hope. One of the most distinctive aspects of the Jimmy Fund Walk is its special place in sports tradition. It’s the only other sanctioned event (besides the Boston Marathon) permitted to take place on the famed route. The course runs from Hopkinton to Boston.
