Gut Skin Axis

The gut-skin axis describes the close connection between gut health and skin health. Both the gut and skin host microbiomes made up of good and bad germs that play an important role in protecting the body. When this balance shifts, it can trigger inflammation and contribute to skin diseases such as psoriasis, rosacea, alopecia areata, lupus, acne, and hidradenitis suppurativa. This resource also introduces the role of probiotics and how they may support skin health as part of ongoing research. By understanding the gut-skin axis, patients and caregivers can better see how whole-body wellness impacts the skin.
